The MBLWHOI Library continues to support the ground-breaking research and educational programs in Woods Hole. As the MBL gradually returns its mission-critical programs within the current environment, the campus has reconfigured space in order to meet COVID-19 health and safety guidelines including social distancing requirements. Therefore, the use of the Library will be limited to full-time employees, active students, and faculty or current summer laboratory investigators. MBL buildings are currently closed to the public and community members until further notice. Current researchers at WHOI, Woodwell Climate Research Center, USGS or SEA who wish to physically access the Library should contact library@mbl.edu. Access is not immediately available.

Beginning May 10, 2021, the Grass and Bay Reading Rooms will be available for use by reservation only Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Visit the Reading Room Reservation system to sign-up for specified blocks of time. Only registered users will be allowed in the space and they must sign-in upon arrival and follow all MBL COVID-19 health and safety guidelines including wearing a mask at all times. Food or drink is not allowed.

Library Desk and Office usage is reserved for those who have been assigned to a specific space in the stacks. The library stacks remain closed for all other patrons. Only those with assigned space in the stacks will be allowed in the stacks.

Books and journals located in the stacks can be requested through the library catalog located here.
