Dear Colleagues,

Starting today, Friday, April 30, 2021 Massachusetts is no longer mandating use of masks outdoors where social distancing is possible. Masks are still required at all times in indoor public places and outdoors when unable to maintain 6 feet from other people.

The MBL will follow the revised order and has updated the Guidance for Using Masks in MBL Work Areas to reflect the change to outdoor mask use.

Per Governor Charlie Baker’s revised order, masks will continue to be required at all times at events, whether held indoors or outdoors, and whether held in a public space or private home, except for when eating or drinking. At smaller gatherings in private homes, face coverings are recommended but not required.

With the elimination of the outdoor mask mandate, there is no longer a need to have designated campus mask break areas for those people who do not have their own office space therefore those spaces have been eliminated.

Please remember masks help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect you and those around you. Continuing to wear masks at all times while in campus buildings per MBL mask guidelines is a critical part of keeping COVID-19 transmission levels low and our community safe.
