Dear Colleagues,

As COVID-19 mitigation measures ease on our campus and across the nation, we are beginning to experience some normalcy in our lives.

Thankfully, we were able to eliminate our outdoor mask requirement before the summer heat arrived. However, the requirement that masks be worn indoors in all MBL buildings remains in effect until further notice. Individuals can remove face coverings if they are in a private room/office alone with the door shut or while eating indoors (including designated breakrooms). See mask guidance here.

We realize that it can be challenging to stay vigilant with regard to mask wearing as life falls into a more normal rhythm and mask requirements lift in most locations outside of the MBL, however our success at preventing the spread of coronavirus on our campus relies on all of us—our staff, course participants, and Whitman investigators—to take a community-minded approach to public health and safety.

As noted in previous communications, we are currently addressing the issues of indoor masking and vaccine status with the goal of eliminating most requirements by later this summer.  It is extremely important that we do this carefully and in a way that addresses important policy and protocol issues.

Thank you for your continued efforts to promote the health and wellbeing of the MBL community.
